Left Annapolis sailing with the jib only. It was a short and pleasant sail to the Magothy River just north from the Chesapeake Bay bridge on the western shore.  We tucked behind Dobbins Island that turned out to be a very nice and quiet anchorage until the 4th of July.  This is a very popular spot for locals and I counted over 80 boats on the 4th most of which were rafted along the beach of the island, fun people watching.  Fortunately we are far enough north and there were no nettles which made for good swimming.

Ken and Francie anchored nearby on July 3rd as they were working their way back south to Solomons, we enjoyed watching fireworks with them.  Although the best fireworks show was on the 4th, it seemed as though everyone was putting on their own show, we have never seen so many fireworks displays before.  It probably has something to do with the fact that fireworks can be purchased in MD.

Our quiet peaceful little anchorage gets busy.

We were able to catch the hometown parade on a webcam and listened to WDEV live radio report on the Warren parade, next best thing to being there.

We finally pulled anchor on Sunday and motor sailed our way up here to the Sassafras River and will likely move a little further north to set ourselves up for an early departure through the C&D canal, need to time it so the current is in our favor.  The long term weather if it holds may have us making our last overnighter from Cape May to Sandy hook next Sunday or Monday.
